The most spectacular grassroots drag racing event in the country returns to the Bellagio of drag strips on the heels of a historic 2009 PINKS All Out that featured competitors racing four wide down the concrete quarter-mile.

    Street-legal drag racing takes center stage at zMAX Dragway when the Street Racing Challenge returns for the final time in 2009 to the Bellagio of drag strips tomorrow evening. The program began earlier this year as a combined effort between zMAX Dragway officials and local law enforcement to take street racing off the streets and into a safe, legal and controlled environment.

    Cory McClenathan and Robert Hight won their first races of the 2009 season Sunday at the Second annual NHRA Carolinas Nationals at zMax Dragway to make huge moves in the Countdown to 1. Joining McClenathan (Top Fuel) and Hight (Funny Car) in the winner's circle at at the 19th of 24 races in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series were Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana (Pro Stock Motorcycle).

    Upon the conclusion of the first round of qualifying from today's NHRA Carolinas Nationals, NHRA announced the fields for the four-lane, four-wide exhibition run. It will mark the first time in NHRA history, modern Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars will race four lanes, four wide, unleashing a powerful assault of 28,000 horsepower on spectacular zMAX Dragway.

    The Countdown to 1, NHRA's six-race playoff, officially got underway Friday with Top Fuel points leader Antron Brown earning the provisional pole in Top Fuel at the Second annual NHRA Carolinas Nationals. The other provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the 19th of 24 races in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series were Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana (Pro Stock Motorcycle).

    Friday and Saturday - If no Pro Nitro qualifying sessions are completed then the day is considered a full rainout and the customer is credited the amount of the ticket toward another day of NHRA racing through 2010 at zMAX Dragway. Following the completion of one round of Pro Nitro qualifying, there will be no credit.
