More than 600,000 horsepower will thunder around the 1.5-mile superspeedway at Charlotte Motor Speedway, roar down the Bellagio of drag strips at zMAX Dragway and kick up dust at The Dirt Track at Charlotte as part of the legendary motorsports complex's 2012 Fall Season of Speed.

During the next four months, Charlotte Motor Speedway will host thousands of race cars, monster trucks, motorcycles and classic cars in the largest, most diverse fall event schedule ever produced for race fans.

"The fall is an exciting time to be a race fan at Charlotte Motor Speedway because we’ve got something for everyone," said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “Whether you love the thrill of NASCAR’s only Saturday night race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, watching NHRA Top Fuel dragsters accelerate to 320 mph is less than four seconds or cheering on the biggest names in monster truck racing as drivers perform high-flying, metal-mashing stunts, we’ve got an affordable, entertaining event for you.”

Major highlights on the fall calendar include the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash, presented by Polar Pop, on Aug. 11; O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals Sept. 14-16; the NASCAR Bank of America 500 Week Oct. 10-13; and the World of Outlaws World Finals Nov. 1-3.

Other Fall Season of Speed events include the Sept. 20-23 Food Lion AutoFair, which will feature a tribute to automotive icon Carroll Shelby, a display of vintage motorcycles and appearances by Twiggy, the world-famous water skiing squirrel. Also, the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour returns for the 2012 season in the UNOH Southern Slam 150 following NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying on Bojangles’ Pole Night, Oct. 11. Charlotte Motor Speedway will also host the 19th annual Goodguys Southeastern Nationals car show Oct. 26-28.

Charlotte Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race will once again aim to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer and raise funds for breast cancer research, sporting a pink theme for the Dollar General 300 on Oct. 12, during national Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Finally, Charlotte Motor Speedway will ring in the holidays with the return of Speedway Christmas, one of the largest drive-through holiday light parks in the country, running Nov. 20 through Dec. 30. Fans can complete some of their holiday shopping during the annual Souvenir & Race Ticket Blowout, Nov. 23, with discounts on tickets and merchandise and the opportunity to drive a personal vehicle on the famous 1.5-mile superspeedway.

“Nineteen events are scheduled at our three venues during the next five months, which will bring nearly a half-million people to the greatest place to see the race,” Smith said. “This provides a great boost to our economy and puts people to work. Our fall schedule is the busiest, most entertaining in motorsports, and will create memories for our fans that will last a lifetime.”

Children 13 and under get in free to many of the fall events, making entertaining the entire family at a major sports event more affordable than ever. Great ticket packages are available for all events, like the Bank of America 500 Week Superticket. For just $99, fans can get a ticket to the World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown at The Dirt Track on Oct. 10, Bojangles' Pole Night and the UNOH Southern Slam 150 on Oct. 11, the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General on Oct. 12 and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bank of America 500 Saturday night, Oct. 13.
